No sound from fiber optic output (TOSLINK)

This guide can help you resolve issues with no sound output when using VANOA devices with fiber optic (TOSLINK) output.

Before you begin:

- Ensure your VANGOA device is powered on and playing audio.

- Verify that the optical cable is securely connected to the VANGOA device and the external DAC/amplifier/soundboard.

- Ensure the external audio device is powered on and set to the correct optical input.

Step 1: Confirm the playback source on your VANGOA

1. Ensure your VANGOA device is playing audio (Wi-Fi streaming, line-in, HDMI ARC, etc.).

2. Turn up the volume and confirm the device is not muted.

*The optical output will only send audio when there is a valid audio source playing.

Step Two: Check Audio Format Compatibility

1. VANGOA devices only output PCM optically.

2. Ensure the connected DAC or amplifier supports PCM input.

3. Devices requiring Dolby Digital or DTS will not produce sound.

*Optical output does not support surround sound formats.

Step 3: Check External Device Output Settings

1. Ensure the external DAC, amplifier, or soundbar is set to optical/SPDIF input.

Turn off any surround sound or special decoding modes on the external device.

3. Try switching the external device input from optical to another input to refresh the signal.

Step 4: Test with a different cable or device

1. Try using a different fiber optic cable to rule out cable issues.

2. If you have another DAC or amplifier, connect the VANOA fiber optic output to that other DAC or amplifier.

3. Test the same external device using different signal sources to confirm that it is working properly.

Notes

1. The light output volume may be fixed, depending on the device model and settings.

2. The light output does not support microphone or control signals.

3. Some external devices will mute the light input if a valid PCM signal is not detected.

Troubleshooting Tips

Turn off the power to the VANGOA device and external audio devices. Unplug the power cord for 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.

2. Ensure that no other output modes are blocking the light output.

3. If there is still no sound, contact VANGOA technical support. Please provide your device model and details of the connected devices.
