No sound from fiber optic Input (TOSLINK)

This guide can help you resolve issues with no sound when using the VANGOA device's fiber optic (TOSLINK) input.

Before you begin:

- Ensure your VANGOA device is powered on and the correct optical input source is selected.

- Verify that both ends of the fiber optic cable are securely connected.

- Ensure your audio source device (TV, CD player, game console) is powered on and playing audio.

Step 1: Check the Fiber Optic Cable and Connection

1. Remove and reinsert the fiber optic cable to ensure a correct connection.

2. Ensure the fiber optic cable is not bent, damaged, or clogged with dust.

Step 2: Check the audio output settings on the source device

Most TVs and media devices do not output compatible audio formats by default.

1. Open the audio settings on your TV or source device.

2. Set the digital audio output to PCM.

3. Turn off Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, DTS, or Auto mode.

*Physical optical input only supports PCM audio.

Step 3: Verify the Correct Input Source on VANGOA

1. Open the 4Stream application or use the physical controller.

2. Ensure the Optical/SPDIF input mode is selected.

3. Turn the volume to 60% and confirm the device is not muted.

Step 4: Test with Other Signal Sources or Cables

1. If you have other light source devices, try using them.

2. Test with different fiber optic cables to rule out cable issues.

3. Connect the same signal source using AUX or HDMI ARC to verify that the audio output is working properly.

Common TV Audio Settings Examples

Samsung TV: Digital Audio Output Format → PCM

LG TV: Audio Output → Optical → Digital Audio Output → PCM

Sony TV: Digital Audio Output → PCM

Panasonic TV: Digital Audio Output → PCM

Notes

- The optical input does not support volume control via the TV remote.

- The optical input does not support Dolby or DTS decoding.

- Some TVs mute the optical output when the built-in speakers are selected—please check your TV's audio menu.

Troubleshooting Tips

1. Turn off the power to both the TV and the VANOA device, unplug the power cord for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

2. Ensure no other input source is obstructing the optical input.

3. If there is still no sound, contact VANOA support and provide your device model and source device details.
